Apply to be CanadiEM’s next Deputy Editor-in-Chief. The application deadline is May 31, 2023.

CanadiEM.org is one of the leading Free Open-Access Medical Education (FOAMed) websites in the world and we are looking for a Deputy Editor-in-Chief to join our team. Over the past 7 years, our organization has grown to include a diverse portfolio of open educational resources including a blog, podcasts, infographics team, videos, mobile application, and social media platforms. Our site now receives over 1 million page views annually. As our Deputy Editor-in-Chief, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the world’s leading clinician educators and to accelerate your career path within medical education and digital scholarship.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to mentor a motivated group of medical students and resident physicians, and to actively participate in the FOAMed movement. Plus, our website is financially self-sustainable and comes with administrative support, so you can focus on creating impactful resources for the medical community.

What we are looking for:

  • A faculty physician or senior resident physician (PGY3+), ideally based in Canada
  • Experience with creating open educational resources (FOAMed)
  • Experience as a published author in the peer-reviewed medical literature
  • Experience with the WordPress platform (preferred but not required)

As our Deputy Editor-in-Chief, you will have the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Shared editorial oversight of the content produced at CanadiEM
  • Contribution of content at CanadiEM
  • Attending meetings (editorial board meetings once every 2 months, annual meetup at CAEP Conference)
  • Attending social events
  • Participation in negotiating strategic alliances with other organizations
  • Contributing to the shared future vision of CanadiEM

Daniel Ting

Daniel Ting is an Emergency Physician and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia, based in Vancouver. He is the Editor-in-Chief of CanadiEM and a Decision Editor at the Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine. He completed the CanadiEM Digital Scholarship Fellowship in 2017-18. No conflicts of interest (COI).
