2019 AHA Guidelines Update: Pediatric ALS

The 2019 American Heart Association Update has arrived!​1​ CanadiEM has partnered with the AHA to produce a three part infographic series highlighting new guideline changes. Our infographics visually summarize recommendations new to the 2019 update. Part two of our infographic series focuses on updates to the 2019 Pediatric ALS Guidelines. Updates to the 2019 Pediatric ALS Guidelines include:

  • The use of advanced airways during pediatric resuscitation
  • Targeted temperature management
  • The use of extracorporeal CPR

Andrew Tolmie

Andrew is a PGY-1 at the University of Saskatchewan Emergency Medicine Program. He is also a Graphic Design Lead for the CanadiEM Infographics team. Outside of medicine, Andrew enjoys pour-over coffee, downhill skiing, and mountain biking.

Sparsh Shah is an incoming Emergency Medicine Resident at the University of Toronto. He has interests in trauma, global health, and healthcare innovation.
Alvin is currently a PGY5 in the FRCP EM program at McMaster University. He serves as Director of Design for CanadiEM and has interests in knowledge translation and health innovation.

Comilla Sasson

Comilla Sasson, MD, PhD is an Emergency Medicine Physician and serves as the Vice President of Science & Innovation, Emergency Cardiovascular Care at the American Heart Association.
